Your health
The problems related to mental health cause an important suffering
and incapacity in our community. The integral
health is defined as a complete state of
physical, social and mental well being, therefore, we must take more
care for it than our body to be really healthy.
What is the mental health?
The international organisms dedicated to promoting health, talk about
Mental Health as a state of emotional well being that allows the person:
- To develop their abilities
- To work in a productive way
- To be able to face the situations of
the daily life
- To contribute positively to their
family and society
A mentally healthy person distinguishes itself by the following characteristics:
- Adeccuate concept of oneself based on the knowledge of its own
capabilities and limitations.
- Self-esteem based on the value that occur itself and the way
as it is perceived and feels with respect to its person.
- Consistent between what one thinks, feels and does.
- Conviction to its values and principles.
- Proposes and carries out goals and
objectives.
- Capable of making decisions to solve
problems and taking responsibility
of the consequences.
- Adapts and is flexible to new and unexpected
situations.
- Respects and values oneself and others.
- Expresses and accepts his feelings
and emotions (positive or negative),
as well as the one of the others.
- Ability to communicate with clarity.
- Knows to relate to people who surround
him.
- Belongs to one or more groups that
share feelings, interests and commitments..
- Solves problems in a concealed and
non violent way.
- Perceives life like a process of continuous
learning.
- Learns of previous experiences.
- Reflects.
- Optimistic and positive.
- Interchanges with others his ideas
and projects.
- Does social, physical, recreational
and cultural activities.
- Exerts a responsible sexuality.
- Does activities which makes him grow
like person.
- Coexists and enjoys the activities
that it undertakes.
- Takes advantage of his free time.
- Protects his body (good nutritional
habits, rest, personal hygiene,
periodic visits to the doctor, and physical exercise.
- Prevents unnecessary risks.
- It does not exceed the consumption
of tobacco, alcohol and it does
not consume drugs.
- Contributes to the care of the environment.
All these characteristics have to do with what we know as maturity,
which is considered an equivalent to mental health.
